Parked off road at Kilcheran then lowland two gate route before following wall & stream with only a broken wall to cross. | Dugswell2 | 25/06/2024 |
From Achinduin after Bernera Island, good animal tracks but wall need to be crossed (not difficult) to reach top. | PeterD | 20/06/2024 |
From achinduin after getting the ok to park near the houses. | robertphillips | 22/07/2023 |
From NM 8153 3783 via the suggested route by Walk Lismore (https://www.walklismore.co.uk/up-the-barr-mor/). | summitsup | 04/10/2022 |
Parked bikes at Achinduin. Very straightforward and easy to summit until the wall. Crossed with a little difficulty - explained by our nickname. Wonderful views all round. | Crumblie2 | 27/08/2022 |
Almost straight line from Barr Treshtil - down wooded gully then follow line of old stonewall to trig point | richard69 | 29/05/2022 |
From Barr Tresthill. Unpleasant initial descent through wood but straight ups ago top is easy. | Campbell Singer | 11/05/2022 |

Up the east side on return from Bernera..Anything but nasty. Great day out with the tidal island, castle, views and all those flowers | fasgadh | 07/07/2021 |
From end of the minor rd at SW end of the island. Near enough direct line from Barr Treshtil. | jonglew | 30/10/2018 |
Started from Achinduin where the farmer tried to dissuade me by saying it was not an easy hill to climb and I would have to climb a wall which could of course fall down. At the top in 17 minutes - the wall was not a problem. | NormanW | 25/07/2018 |
Debs and Talisker, returning from Bernera Island, up side of woods though a couple of gate openings to the ridge wall. Got to wall corner about 10 ft away from cylindrical cairn, no point in climbing wall for sake of it so that'll do me! (looks simple of attacked from Barr Treshtil, maybe next time) | Mountain Goat | 23/06/2018 |
HP near trig which is on a shallow cairn, on adjacent limestone rib outcrop, with nearby outcrop slightly lower. In rough sheep pasture. Raining, with low cloud. Approached from Barr Treshtil. | Denise | 23/04/2018 |
Jenx and Bryher from SW end B road, parking at cattle barn off road on concrete w farmers permission. Good track to southern Loch then up using field gates to summit. Fine views all around. Continued to Bernera tidal island | nordicstar | 16/04/2018 |
After Barr Treshtil. Follow sheep/cattle tracks down through steep gully and then follow wall to summit which doesn't disappoint. On to Bernera Island. Lovely sunny day | Thearlaichdubh | 01/05/2017 |
Walked from the ferry at Achnacroish and along the Achinduin road. Turned left at sign saying “Achnadun Castle 1 mile”. Passed new cottage and older farm house on left. On advice from lady at latter went through gates to left of black barn, then south-west across large field to gate at about NM 812389. Followed rough track and sheep trods to wall along ridge. Wall most easily crossed where several walls meet NNE of summit of Bàrr Mòr, but care still required because of recent barbed wire. Walking otherwise pretty straightforward. Trig pillar is set on ancient cairn, now very dilapidated. Descent beside walls/fences south-west, then SSE; then directly to track at NE end of Loch Fiart; then to B8045 past Kilcheran to ferry. Mist took longer to lift than forecast, so distant views disappointing, but dry and mild. | mainnirnamfiadh | 18/03/2016 |
short trip from pier at Pierhouse hotel, ferry goes every hour apart from 1pm. Hill is other other side of the island, so we organised a taxi. guy took us nearly to end of the road way passed the loch, and picked us up again 1.5 hours later. Lovely limestone pavement everywhere. | tallblond | 07/12/2013 |
A long long walk for a hump with a Vanessa!! and her trig number 10472 With Graeme Patterson and Aileen Gray | vegibagger | 25/08/2012 |
Day visit to Lismore, with a walk out to Rubha Fiart also included. | Alex C | 09/06/2012 |
Fairly easy cycle from passenger ferry to Achinduin. From houses to gate at NM81354 39178 and then up to the top. Visited ruins of Achadan castle and raced against the tide to bag the P50 on Bernera island. Great views all round. Very windy. | Martin R | 25/04/2012 |

10.00 ferry to Lismore. On roads past the school to a junction. Passing motorist didn't much idea where there were paths to the hill. On rough track to find a faint trod through flower meadow, Into woods, not shown on my map, following cattle trods down hill to cross a wire fence through swamp into more woodland to cross a second fence and onto firm ground steadily uphill to a tall stone wall seen from the ferry. Could see column 150m further. Crossed wall gingerly at the junction and to top at 12.35. No cairn. Oban. Ben More in misty cloud. A meeting of 4 or 5 stone walls near the summit made finding a return path difficult. More direct descent, but had to cross BWFs using anorak to get over. Stream leading into loch through swamp. Flies in abundance, biting and buzzing. Out of swampy area to find signs pointing to The Loch. To road for change of gear. Glucose tabs, Ribena and coffee. Back to pier for 15.00 ferry. A really nasty hill. | arranc | 02/07/2009 |
