| Parked just south of the Stronalacher turnoff at a small parking spot (39760 09497 - junction with bike path, room for 3 cars). Cycled to Corriearklet farm and was redirected (in a very helpful manner) to the entrance to the large new shed further west. This gives good access to the cycle path which gives easy walking and access to the shoulder up to Maol Mor. | Parked in the entrance to Corriearklet and got onto the Great Trossachs Path north of it by going up the access track and through some overgrown vegetation besides the main house. Next, a wet tramp through long grass, using an ATV track initially, to Garradh and on to the two tops of Maol Mor. Thankfully, the ground got easier as I rose, but the ever-present mist failed to lift - swings and roundabouts! Along the rugged ridge over Stob a' Choin Dhuibh and Maol Breac a' Bhealaich before a final pull to Beinn a' Choin. Returned S via Stob an Fhainne, following an old fence line for most of the way to its summit and on down to the road besides the Loch Arklet dam. | Solo from RSPB car park. Heavy rain all day and very poor visibility above 500m. Good track north for about 2km then NE up steep slopes. Dreadful deep vegetation, bracken, lumpy thick heather to deer fence and gate. A little better going after that to Bealach a' Mheim. | From the RSPB car park. Along the grassy track as far as the Allt Trosdain. Up the right hand side, leading to a gate in the deer fence. Crossed the Allt Trosdain quite high up after overnight rain, somewhat easier going after that. Descended on a more easterly line by the fence posts to the col, then descended gradually, scaling the deer fence at 350m asl, but this led to dreadful vegetation, bracken, lumpy thick heather, young trees and an awkward burn crossing. | Parked large layby (no passing place sign) NN 3803 0939. Thru' gate NN 3817 0941 to nothing but rough, deep, exhausting vegetation. Improved a little over 500m but the whole Maol Mor ridge rough. On to Beinn a'Choin (BC) and two Sims to NW. Back ober BC and down Stob an Fhainne ridge. To Beinn a'Choin via Garrison Farm (no sign of landslip) returning via Stob an Fhainne and straight down beside the fence back to the dam. | A shorter hill day with John and wee Islay (the springer) - clockwise loop - tough terrain for a lot of it and the hill is like a big sponge. | Room for a car in the wide entrance to Corriearklet Farm. ACW round of Corriearklet, ascending - through fairly long vegetation, initially - to Garadh and descending over Maol Odhar. | From Garrison farm, through the RSPB reserve and up the stream by the sheepfold. Purgatorial going through regenerating woodland - sickly saplings planted in deep hidden holes full of water amongst monstrous triffid-style vegetation. After a character forming slog, I found an ATV track, which was slightly less purgatorial. Better going above the deer fence, and the track goes almost to the top. Followed the track all the way back down, but gruesome going lower down (rushes, holes, tussocks, bracken). | From Ardlui ferry straight up the very steep side of the ridge to north of Stob nan Eigrach then south along ridge over Bein a Choin and three of the four Graham tops. Slow going in places on wet thawing snow so had to miss last of the tops, Stob an Fhainne to be sure of getting last ferry which I made with just 15 minutes to spare.
