Walked from home, about 1 mile away, doing my virtual parkrun (passed it again on way home at 9:20). Highest point is right next to the road, with a small layby opposite. Not exactly Everest! | Spartanhouse | 26/06/2021 |
Visited on way back home from SIB | GordonAdshead | 15/05/2021 |

In 1990? I entered one of my first orienteering events in Allestree Park. I still recall a golfer shouting at me 'What are you doing, reading the sunday papers?' as I stood on the fairway peering confused at this strange new map full of different colours and symbols and a scale that was unfathomable. Easier navigation (on a road) in finding the highpoint on this visit. | Chris Pearson | 08/08/2015 |
Wandered around on what I thought was the highest point close to the edge of the road. | bolton | 04/06/2015 |
1/11 First of long day's hill bagging. Beautiful wood beside nice village | Fergalh | 04/05/2015 |
The 5th of 9 county high points today | mcallmar | 08/04/2015 |
Wandered in woods like everybody else. Not the pointiest of peaks. | ngthack | 22/02/2015 |
Banking just inside wood from layby seemed as high as anywhere. Short wander in wood found only dog muck. | Aye Jimmy | 05/02/2015 |
Spot height in road, low bank E side of road coinciding with boundary (old boundary marker?) appears to be highest point: apparently nothing higher within wood. | RHW | 24/01/2015 |
Diverted off the Nomad way from Quarndon on an 18.5 mile walk from Kirk langley to the Flourish on Spondon road (near Stanley). I was surprised that this is classified as a hill. I walked around the woods and like everybody else was a bit confused about where the summit is supposed to be but I did walk along the verge of the road and even into the other side (through the broken wire fencing. There is a nice Yew tree in the woods and it looks like a makeshift bmx track has been created through constant use but a pleasant place to be for dappled light with lots of variety in tree species. There was some work being done to the water tower when I visited. I walked back along the road to the jct turning left and back onto the Nomad way along 'The Common and footpaths to DDuffield bank, Eaton park wood, and my second summit at Breadsall moor past the Scout camp off Horsley Carr wood and from there to Morley Smithy, Stanley and the end on Spondon road, catching the I3 bus into Derby. | Dazingdale | 24/07/2014 |
