Logged Descriptions  (logged by 29 users)ByDate of Ascent
Used MoK's descent route which worked well. Parked in lay-by to SSE, just above start of RoW at SJ 0241 6191 - W. along RoW/sheep trod for about 100m to holly tree - Trod then heads N. through bracken, easily through a short stretch of gorse & up over quarry waste to an area of gorse that has recently been burned - Along path on E. side of low overgrown wall (shown on 1:25,000) to trig point. Parked in the layby, over the fence into the pasture and up through a gate near the farm and continued up. This way goes a bit near the farm but nobody challenged me and it avoids all the gorse.clivevilla08/02/2022
From lay-by. Some of the gorse has been burnt back but Ilower slopes still inundated. Aim for quarry and then up.Campbell Singer07/05/2021
On circular walk from Groes with Holywell Ramblers. Easy but steep ascent to trig over grass from the west. Great viewpoint towards the sea, Clwydian range and Snowdonia.JohnIvor07/07/2019
From layby south. Very difficult climb through bracken, worth the effort howeverJamesD197225/06/2018
Layby at high point of road to ESE. Over bwf then left and followed fence till it met the gorse. Couldn't find a way through, gave up, went across to farm Ty Fry and got the OK to use the field. Easy then up field side of fence!Aye Jimmy10/06/2018
From Layby on B4501. Painful ascent with lots of gorse bashing. Won't be returning ;PAlunrees3320/02/2018
Parked in Nantglyn by the parish church at SJ 00444 62152. Took the B5435 south-east, then a muddy unkempt bridleway up to lane at Bryn Hyfryd. Then south along lane and over the gate onto the quarry track in access land. Left this at its highest point for a painful prickly gorse bash up to the southern Pt. 378m first, then north to the trig point on a bit of a path. Descended south on a grassy track which petered out further down, but less prickly. Then down through bracken to the RoW and to the lane at SJ 02374 61903. Then by B5401 and B5435 back to Nantglyn. Best way up this painful hill is by my descent route, as it involves minimum gorse bashing. Solo.Man of Kernow118/02/2017
As arranc: No problem. What is the use of access land if it is choked with gorse?GordonAdshead16/10/2015
From access road to farm, detoured around to left and up on field, outside fence to top. Column 3509.arranc07/08/2015
The gorse is still there. Not much of a path, but not all that difficult. Clear views, calm between two major storms.Martin R13/02/2014
Parked in layby on B4501 by Bron-haul.Over stile then right on track for 20m, left up steep grassy bank to trod, follow trod left which will take you through gorse bushes, up to right of shale and follow trod right and round to top.Anton23/07/2012
Parked at highest point of the B4501. Top of this hill is thick gorse, best to start on ROW and follow the first field boundary up to trig summit.PeteF02/01/2012
